From: Hocking Township Board of Trustees
There is a new (unapproved) Flood Plain Map for Fairfield County. The Hocking Township Trustees would like to inform residents that some of the flood plain regions have changed in regard to their flood plain designation. The Board suggests that residents check to see if their designation has changed. This designation could affect home owner’s insurance policies. FEMA issued preliminary Flood Rate Maps for Fairfield County, February 5, 2010. You can check out these maps at the Fairfield County Regional Planning Office or by logging on to their website at http://www.co.fairfield.oh.us/rpc. If you believe the preliminary flood insurance rate maps are incorrect, FEMA allows appeals and comments. Their official appeals period has not begun, but
The Fairfield County Regional Planning Commission will accept appeals beginning April 1, 2010 until the appeals period closes.
